University Hospital Düsseldorf - Haus Himmelgeist
Conversion, refurbishment and extension of a former clinic building (1892) listed as a historical monument
After several years of vacancy, the listed Himmelgeist building on the campus of Düsseldorf University Hospital is now being repurposed and converted. The aim is to bundle the decentralized administrative units in one place and thus create synergies. Around 120 employees will later work in the building.
The existing 5-storey building dates back to 1892 and was last used for clinical purposes. Over the years, numerous extensions have been added, which have already been demolished by the UKD. The building is currently vacant and is now to be renovated and converted for subsequent use. The listed building status relates primarily to the façade (restoration with clinker bricks to Prussian standards) and the shape of the roof.
