SAM - Housing for students

BIM, WOHNEN, IN PLANUNG, NEUBAU

Inner-city student housing complex in several construction phases - planned together with our partners Olufemi Moser Architekten

A student hall of residence with 185 new places is being built in Munich's Schwabing university district. The new building, which covers around 8,000 m², fits in perfectly on the site already occupied by a student residence of the Munich Student Union. In addition to individual apartments, SAM III offers several shared flats and parent-child apartments as well as barrier-free living.
The 6-storey U-shaped structure made of single-skin masonry forms its own communicative inner courtyard, which, like the arcades facing the courtyard, promotes communal interaction. In the basement, an underground garage offers parking spaces for 19 cars and 181 bicycles.

As many of the residences are occupied by music students, there are special music practice rooms in addition to study rooms. In a central position, facing the courtyard, a multi-purpose room will be created, which will become a focal point thanks to its aluminum-clad, sloping façade elements. Along Agnesstrasse, where the main entrance to the student residence is located, the façade is also highlighted. The rest of the building has a rendered façade made of rough and comb plaster and forms the previously missing component of an ensemble of student life in a sought-after and valued residential area.
