Ankergärten
The former site for the production of sewing machines and cash registers was retained in its large-scale industrial architecture and transformed into a new urban quarter through reduced interventions.
The new residential quarter was built around a green inner courtyard in the middle of Bielefeld's city center on a former production site. In addition to the commercial use in the south of the first floor, the building ensemble primarily offers space for 102 characterful apartments. The cantilevered penthouse apartments set on top of the existing building are a particular highlight. With their bronze-coloured metal cladding and the deliberate projections at the recesses, they clearly emphasize the design idea of an inner-city ensemble.
The Ankergärten industrial monument has been revitalized in a central residential location in the heart of the city centre. A high-quality residential quarter with loft architecture and partial listed building status was created here. Following the extensive refurbishment, a total of 102 high-quality 2- to 5-room apartments and 8 commercial/office units were created in the 11 buildings. All apartments have spacious balconies/loggias, terraces or roof terraces. A high degree of flexibility and a wide range of individualization options have been taken into account in the floor plan concepts.
