School extension in timber hybrid construction opposite our swimming pool project

The Johannes-Kepler-Gymnasium Garbsen is to be extended by approx. 3,750 m² as part of the G9 expansion, with the school being extended from 4 to 5.5 classes. The room program includes general teaching areas, specialist rooms for music, art, handicrafts and natural sciences as well as a janitor's apartment. The design places a three-storey building volume precisely between the existing building and the neighboring secondary school. The compact organization eliminates the need for an additional staircase, ensures short distances and optimal connections and saves a lot of new façade space. The floor plans are organized around three market squares, which open up in different directions depending on the floor and thus give each area a different face. A timber hybrid construction is proposed as the supporting structure, while the façade is clad with wooden slats.
