At present, the listed building of the Alte Kämmerei is hardly noticeable as an active protagonist in its surroundings. This applies to all four directions without exception. Only the stores, some of which have been heavily altered, enliven the east side under the arcades.

The aim is to activate the neighboring market square from its northern side and to enable a wide range of uses through a new function in the semi-basement. The former main entrances to the Kämmerei are to regain their prominence so that the structure and complexity of the ensemble can be expressed. Unlike in the past, apartments and restaurants as well as the event area on the north side are to be given a lively and visible address.
