State Prize for Architecture 2024
The CIC - Coppenrath Innovation Centre in Osnabrück has beaten off the competition to win this year's Lower Saxony State Prize for Architecture.
The Lower Saxony Minister for Economic Affairs, Transport, Building and Digital Affairs, Olaf Lies, presented the award to Kilian Kresing and Sarah Wöstmann from the Coppenrath Foundation at the award ceremony in the main ballroom of the Old Town Hall in Hanover.
The jury, chaired by Stuttgart architect Wolfgang Mairinger (blocher partners), initially selected 7 finalists and then travelled to and inspected these projects.
We are very proud of this award, which not only honours the architecture of the conversion of a listed former roundhouse, but also, in particular, the catalysing function of the research and office building, which has an impact on future urban development in Osnabrück that should not be underestimated. Above all, because not only the university and college have rented space in the project, but above all the DFKI has bundled its various locations there and many other companies have followed suit.
With this highest architectural award, the state government has been honouring architectural achievements in Lower Saxony for over 20 years and provides a thematically focused, outstanding overview of current building activity in the state.
The award-winning works are presented in a travelling exhibition.
