polis award 2025 – GOLD

The CIC - Coppenrath Innovation Center in Osnabrück has won the polis award 2025. The project was successful in the “Reactivated Centers” category and is now our most awarded project ever. What a great success.
We are delighted with the client, all users and the planning team for this joint success story.

In eight categories and from around 170 projects, many impulses, important findings and valuable insights were gained. There were 5 nominations per category. The award winners were announced on the main stage on the first evening of the polis convention.

The polis award in the “Reactivated Centers” category recognizes projects that achieve an inner-city boost. They enhance the inner-city core and the existing usage structures there and make a significant contribution to image building in the process.

The revitalization of the Ringlokschuppen as a semi-public building with workspace areas, rooms for research and teaching, space for craft businesses and the Innovatorium as an event location for 400 people brings many people together under one roof.

The resulting infrastructure and, above all, the new bridge access over the Hase and the future passage from the main railway station directly to the CIC and the 22-hectare inner-city brownfield site behind it, make the building a catalyst for the development of the Lokviertel, a new lively, mixed and sustainable urban district - with a social master plan.

The impetus can be felt throughout the city and all citizens benefit from the urban development.

The Coppenrath Innovation Center impresses with a well-proportioned and functional interplay between the building envelope, interior and open space. The enclosed office modules (wood) and the multifunctional areas are deliberately placed in front of the existing building (concrete supporting structure) and create a strong image: a new, innovative working environment with charisma.

The successful combination of history and future, in terms of its use, the sculptural and space-creating construction and the building materials, makes the building a true lighthouse project.

The close integration with the outdoor space should be emphasized, which integrates the course of the river in the outer ring and creates a multifunctional area with places for social networking and a high quality of stay in the inner ring.
