Building permit for Cologne

Another milestone for Friedensstraße Elementary School in Cologne-Porz!

The building permit for the new two-track elementary school for 220 students, including a multipurpose hall and a custodian's apartment, has been granted.

On the approximately 6,700 m² site, modern facilities for 220 elementary school students, along with additional spaces for the neighborhood, are being built on an area of about 6,000 m². In addition to the classrooms and adjacent specialized rooms, space is planned for a preparatory class, multipurpose rooms (including for music and art instruction), all-day learning areas, outdoor instruction, a small library, a kitchen adjacent to a cafeteria and auditorium that can be connected, a two-court gymnasium, administrative offices, and a custodian’s apartment.

While the dual-purpose sports hall will be available for club sports in Cologne-Porz outside of school hours, the cafeteria, auditorium, and small stage can be combined to create a gathering space of approximately 350 square meters.

Special emphasis is placed on sustainability: a solar power system, a green roof, minimal soil sealing, and extensive tree planting in the schoolyard all contribute to a better microclimate and a healthy learning environment. Thanks to heat pump technology, the use of fossil fuels can be completely eliminated.
